[HG_AP] Far-field Layers of Steady State for Viscous and Heat-conductive Gas
ABSTRACT
We study the vanishing heat conductivity limit of radially symmetric stationary solutions to the non-isentropic compressible Navier--Stokes equations in the exterior of a ball under an inflow boundary condition. A distinctive feature of this singular limit is the formation of a far-field layer whose transition region moves toward spatial infinity as the heat conductivity tends to zero. We establish the existence and uniqueness of stationary solutions with the uniform estimates with respect to the heat conductivity and analyze the corresponding limiting problem. The limiting solution generally fails to attain the prescribed far-field density and temperature separately, although its pressure at infinity agrees with the prescribed far-field pressure. We show that this discrepancy gives rise to a far-field layer, derive its explicit representation, and identify its characteristic spatial scale. Finally, we prove that the stationary solution is uniformly approximated over the entire exterior domain by the superposition of the limiting solution and the far-field layer.
