TITLE
S-folds of 5d SCFTs and Seiberg-Witten curves
ABSTRACT
We present a new perspective on S-folds of five-dimensional superconformal field theories (SCFTs). In Type IIB string theory, the S-fold construction combines a spatial quotient with an SL(2,Z) transformation acting on a 5-brane. Focusing on Z_2 S-folds as illustrative examples, we investigate several physical observables and derive the corresponding Seiberg–Witten curves using two different approaches. Our results reveal intriguing connections between these S-folds and recent developments in the study of orientifold planes, providing new insight into the role of discrete symmetries in five-dimensional SCFTs.
