(Strings Journal Club) Complex metrics and the superconformal index.
ABSTRACT
In this Journal Club, based on a recent work by P. Benetti Genolini, O. Janssen and S. Murthy, we continue the discussion of the allowability of complex metrics according to the Kontsevich-Segal-Witten (KSW) criterion. We focus especially on complex saddle points of the gravitational path integral computing a supersymmetric index that capture the contribution of supersymmetric AdS5 black holes. We show that the conditions imposed on such saddles by the KSW criterion are equivalent to those arising from the convergence of the microscopic trace defining the supersymmetric index.
